Project Pink Raises over $5K for Breast Cancer
The first ever “Project Pink” on Flagler Avenue held on October 20, 2012 was a huge success! Flagler Avenue was lined with pink balloons on every business participating in one of 3 aspects of the event.
NSB Chili-Cook Off, sponsored by the Merchants of Flagler Hospitality Group, raised over $4,500 for Susan G Komen & Save the Ta-Tas Breast Cancer Charities. A huge thank you to all our members and friends who donated 10 gallons of chili each for this event. Congratulations go out to our Best on the Beach Chili Cook-Off Winners:
- Best on the Beach: New Smyrna Beach Fire Department
- 2nd Place: Yes Deer Chili
- 3rd Place: Cafe Verde
Bras for Ta-Tas – This is the first year we have done the Bras for Ta-Tas event where businesses and individuals decorated bras which were displayed at the Colony shops during the event. Each submission raised money by donating $10 per entry then additional money was raised as people voted for their favorite bras. We raised over $1,200.00 for breast cancer just on this portion of the event alone. And there is more…for the past week all the bras have been on silent auction to raise even more money. (We hope to have those totals soon). A huge thank you to everyone who put their love into the decorating bras and to Cindy Poole from Beachs Day Spa who did such an awesome job coordinating this portion of the event!!! Congratulations to the fan favorites:
- Favorite Bra: LoLo’s “Save Second Base”
- 2nd Place: Sandy Beach Salon “Manicured Hands for Breast Self Exam”
- 3rd Place: Clancy’s Bustier
Project Pink Sales – Merchants along Flagler Avenue also donated a percentage of their sales on this day to breast cancer charities and we are still awaiting totals from all the merchants to get a final number.
